We bought Bloom Lake in 1997, we know the lake was shallow, and had plans to deepen it.
In the spring of 1999, we noticed the lake level was dropping!
We built a raft and floated around the lake checking bottom depth.
There was about 7 feet of water and a few feet of organic muck until the solid lake bottom
We had decided hydraulic dredging was the answer, and applied for a DEQ permit. In May we got the permit, now we need to find a dredge! |

We found a dredge! In the Fall of 1999, the lake level exposed some of the lake bottom. I took my little dozer to the lake shore to see if I could clear out a dredge launch area. Bad idea, the muck in the lake was strong enough to support the dozer, until we got out far enough to sink it good, we had to get pulled out! Ouch$$ (Look close on the right side of this picture) |

Here's a better view of the mess I'm in. | |
We got a local guy with a big loader to pull us out. He owns the gravel pit down the road. |
