Saturday:
Our new trailer with the first load of wood!
Half a dozen pressure treated 6x6 posts,
about 250 Lbs each.
It works good for a work bench too.
We cut the posts to length, then we notched the tops.
|
Here we set the posts for the roof supports.
we got off to a slow start today. Maybe we can just call it good planning

|
Sunday:
The great guys at Home Depot took our list,
picked all of the wood for us, and then loaded our trailer with a Hi-Lo,
now that's service!
|
We have the roof posts in, and the roof
beams in place, double 2x10's are heavy!

|
Hey it's Grammy and Grampy.
HIDDEN COUNTRY IS OPEN!!!!
(A yummy Vermont restaurant)
|
By the time we got everything square
and aligned, it was looking like rain, We backfilled the holes and cleaned
up the mess.
Monday: rain, rain, rain, but we passed
our posthole inspection.

|
Saturday:
What a sloppy mess, we set the rest of the
posts, and then attached the beams to the sides with long bolt.
Our feet grew heavy, with mud caked to the bottoms.
|
After all of the bolts where set, we cut
the posts flush with the beam tops. We graded the area to flow all
of the water to the drain that will run to the creek, then we put down
6 mil. plastic to keep the weeds out.

Next, we formed up the pad for the spa,
We got a ton of pea stone as a bed for the concrete, that's next!
|
We rented a concrete trailer to bring home
our cubic yard of concrete, what a job! and it was hot out too!
We asked for a heavy (thick) mix to
make the pad real strong, but really struggled to get it out of the
trailer, I wouldn't do that again!!!!

Finished pad! Now for some real deck work!
