House Addition
Adding onto the Rosted Estates

September 2005: We're finally on track to get our "breeze way" started. It ended up not being a breezeway, but a large addition, with a garage and workroom.

This is the before picture, looking west, with the barn is behind me. You can just see our deck in the background.

The crew got a good jump on it, so we missed out on the early pictures.

Here the foundation is poured & cured, and the walls are all framed. All of the addition trusses are set too!

Now comes the prep work for the garage trusses.

Due to the lay of the land and the roofline, I'll have to deal with a very tall garage. (really, that's good!)

The trusses are going up smoothly. Notice the walls aren't covered by the 8 foot tall plywood.

a view from the backside of the house.
More trusses

The crew has the garage trusses up, just finishing the sheathing
Next is the addition sheathing, they're going to try to get it dry soon!

The last of the roofing on the garage.
There it is, the rough shell. All dried in and ready for siding and interior.

Good job guys!

The siding goes up great too.
Wow, looks almost done, and it looks great!!

There is still plenty inside to do.

A before shot of the rough framing.
Same shot, all closed in and ready for insulation

Our vaulted ceiling, ready for insulation too.
The same view with a bit of insulation. We went with cellulose insulation, I hear it's a lot better than fiberglass.

Another shot with the drywall up, but not taped yet.
this is the crawlspace under the addition. Instead of plastic and pea gravel, we had them give us a thin layer of concrete to make a real nice storage area.

This is the floor in my workroom. We insulated the foundation and floor, then some loops of pipe are rolled down under the concrete to heat the floor.
This should make for a toasty warm workshop!

That's about it for now, more pictures as they come in!

After the concrete was down, I graded the approach wih my tractor.
That it! We're done.
