Sept, 2004: Searching for a spot for another tree house,
Mike and Ryan found a giant twin oak that would be perfect to build in.
It's on a high ridge, overlooking the east shore of the lake. They'll have to make some legs for this one!. |
|
I bought a load of cull lumber from a local lumber yard. It was mostly good, with a few twisted boards.
We dropped the load of lumber near our camper, that's as close to the spot as possible. The tree is another 30 yards beyond the trailer, just to the right side of it. The boys built, while I worked on the lake with the dredge. |
|
They got off to a great start, learning from their first.
Here they have the posts up and braced, and the temporary work level built. |
|
By standing on the work level, they were able to get up to the 12 foot mark for the upper deck!
The ladder is finished, and as nightfall nears, the decking is almost done. |
|
By the end of the third day, they had the walls up.
They took down the work level, added some bracing, and moved the ladder around between the trees. We'll have to get some time to finish up the roof before the snow flies! |
|
There they are, Mike and Ryan!

Armed with the experience from the first tree house, the boys wanted to do it again. They said, "This time we'll make it higher, bigger, and a bit more level than the last one". But with all of the old deck wood gone, it seemed like it wouldn't happen. I called around looking for "cull" lumber, I found a bunch and bought it up. The boys built for 3 days, and ended up with another great tree house! |
