Page 4: Finishing Up
Thursday: We made it to page three, after I spent the day working on a sawmill with a friend, we began gluing down the laminate. It was not as hard as we first thought. We finished all of it!, but the edges still need a profile routed on, but all of it is glued down and trimmed
A finished counter top (and a very happy Carol!) Stay tuned: Next is the tile back splash
Friday: oops, News flash: the lazy susan we where to build later in life, don't fit through the hole with the counter installed, so a crash build, not too bad, only a day set back. stained and finished the counter edges.
Saturday: Dump day in Canton, so we took the morning to load and unload the truck with about a zillion pounds of old drywall and scrap, when we got back (after a bagel) I enlisted the help of the locals to pull off the final sanding
Finished! Cool, better and cheaper than store bought!
A quick close-up of the counter edge work (with no stain)
Sunday: What a job, we had to run new drain and supply lines, setup that giant disposer, "you could throw a dead cat in there" is that a Vermont thing?
That's the look I like, I haven't seen that in a while. I really gotta get that stove hooked up! Okay, tile next.....?
Monday: Slow day today, we secured the countertops, then cut and installed the Italian marble tile behind the range. The picture doesn't really show it very good, but it is a really cool, deep green marble with flecks of black and light green that match the counter
Tuesday: Installed the tile backsplash today, We also found out that Lowe's will match the price on the flooring that we don't like at Home Depot (they don't know that) maybe up to 10% off?

Looks like a trip to Bloom Lake is on the horizon, maybe Wednesday and Thursday, (we'll see what the boss has to say?)

Wednesday: We applied the grout today, while that was drying, we installed the dishwasher, stove, and all of the light switches and outlets. Starting to be a functional kitchen again!! I'm leaving in the morning for a trip to Bloom meadows to see if there is enough water to launch the dredge, so no updates 'till Sunday.
Monday: Back at it, dredging went good; but that is another story. We installed knobs today, caulked around the counter and tile joint. Carol installed all of the shelves and started to organize things. also switch plated went on, small stuff but every bit counts. Floor next
Tuesday: The Lowe's got out flooring in stock, we got them to match the price at Home Depot, so we ended up getting what we wanted for what we wanted to pay! (gotta save for more equipment) It needs to sit for a few days, we will install it this weekend. Time to open the pool today!

Wednesday: Sawmill work, pool and some moldings today

Thursday: Moldings today, The green ones around the tops of the cabinets (that is Carol cooking some dinner before we start the floor)
Friday: Started on the floor, we installed the padding under the floating wood floor. had to remove all of the appliances again.
We got all of this done by 10:00 PM, then I smashed my finger with the hammer and we had to quit for the night, OUCH!!
Saturday: Finished all of the kitchen floor, and we are putting the appliances back, this time for good! not much more to do!
